Overview

As an adult student, I can identify with the anxiety and lack of skills associated with beginning college later in life. I left high school with no intention of ever returning to education, so instead started a family. By 30, I began to realize everything that was missing from my life was linked to my lack of education. Now my studies towards my Master's degree have brought me here, and I aspire to work with other adults as they set out on their journey for higher education.

The learners that I plan to work with are the nontraditional adult learners in the online learning environment. I hope to help them successfully meet their goals with education that incorporates technologies that fit within their busy lifestyles. The online technologies that can be used for this purpose are continually growing, and I will utilize many of them found on the Getting Started page, with an outcome that showcases their newly found knowledge built upon and expressed through technology. The application of technology will provide insight into what the student already knows, how they continue to learn, and what knowledge they have gained through the process. Technology brings hands-on application to the learner, enriching the learning experience.

In an effort to support the adult student, I have created this website as a guide for preparing, identifying, and understanding various aspects of becoming an online learner. The first step is to embrace technology, and the 21st century skills that can change everything.
